Freewheel Reiki offers complementary therapy that helps living beings heal themselves by accessing and directing universal energy to enable relaxation, relieve pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of physical, mental, and emotional illness.

What to expect

A full Reiki session itself usually takes about an hour, starting with a few minutes of intake to discuss issues you’re experiencing before the session begins and a few minutes of “recovery” afterward. The treatment includes grounding and clearing, a full scan, and focusing on specific areas of concern.

A mini Reiki session includes grounding and a general scan and usually takes 20-30 minutes. Recommended as a tune-up between full sessions or as needed.

To begin, feel free to ask any questions you may have and discuss with your practitioner why you’re seeking a Reiki treatment and what you hope to experience. Let them know if there are any specific areas of concern, whether physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental.

How it’s done

Reiki is performed with the client lying or seated, fully clothed, sometimes with a blanket for warmth and comfort. The practitioner will guide you in a clearing and grounding visualization (which often is soothing and comforting in itself), before performing a full-body scan with their hands above the client’s body. Then they will focus on clearing any densities, “stuckness,” and other issues, either by placing hands on the client or holding hands over the area. Some clients enjoy physical touch and some do not–it is up to you! Your comfort and ease are of the utmost importance. You can also choose to have soft music, an essential oil diffuser, candles, etc.

After the session is over, take a few minutes to come back to full wakefulness. Sit up slowly. Be sure to drink plenty of water that day and the following day, and get plenty of rest. As with massage, your body will need some extra care to synthesize the energy for optimal outcomes.
