Legal Advocacy

At the Center for Hope we understand how difficult it is to make the decision to leave an abusive relationship. You may be scared that your abuser will convince the court and the Judge that you are the one with the problem, and that the court won’t be able to see through the manipulation and lies your abuser has used to hurt you and often times, your children. By the time you seek legal guidance, you may feel uncertain and confused about your legal rights. Narcissists and other disordered people are masters at blame shifting and gaslighting. Filing for divorce or custody with a high conflict personality is a daunting prospect.

Domestic Abusers use coercive power and control tactics to manipulate their victims. If you have been a victim of narcissistic abuse, it is very important when searching for a lawyer that you find someone who is not just an experienced and skilled attorney, but who also has unique knowledge in the area of leaving an abuser. When women leave abusive relationships, even if there has been no history of physical violence, they are at a far greater risk for physical harm. People of all genders and in all relationships may have been victimized by a narcissist or other disordered person. At the Center for Hope, we understand the dynamics of a relationship that has been characterized by power and control, and how important it is to preserve your physical, emotional, legal and financial health and safety during the process.
